WHY DOESN'T MY ACTUAL SIGNATURE GET DISPLAYED WHEN I COMPOSE A MESSAGE?

Microsoft Outlook does not "know" who the recipients of your message are going to be until you click the SEND button (for example, you might compose your message first and then add the recipients just before sending).
As a result, Signature-Switch would not know if it should display your internal or external signature for any given message you are composing.

So instead, Signature-Switch inserts what we call a "place_holder" signature.  The text of this place_holder signature reads:

[Your signature will automatically be inserted here - DO NOT EDIT ANY OF THIS TEXT]

When you click SEND Signature-Switch will recognize this text and will replace it (before your message actually gets sent) with either your internal or external signature, depending upon who the message recipients are.  Because the process works in this way you will not get to see your actual internal or external signature while composing your messages. (You can always check your sent items folder to ensure that everything is working properly.)
